Details about Marvel’s Spiderman Remastered dropped today in a Playstation blog post. The publisher promises a fancy upgraded game that comes for free with all purchases of the PS5 Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Based on the details in the post, it looks like current owners of Marvel’s Spider-Man will not receive a free upgrade path, and purchasers of the Miles Morales game on PS4 will have to buy the Remaster if they choose to move to PS5. Miles Morales save files will transfer between consoles, but save files from your play through of the existing game to will not transfer to Spider-Man: Remastered. (Full details here)

The game promises a smooth 60 FPS on performance mode and a photo mode to allow you to have fun setting up your own spidey photo shoots.

With all the technical details aside, let’s look at what the fans are actually talking about. According to Sony:

“We have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.”

Here is a look at the old model versus the updated model:

Look familiar? The new model is significantly closer to Tom Holland, the actor playing the nerdy super hero on the big screen. A quick google also shows that the new face model does have closer facial features to the voice actor than the original actor — but we can’t help but wonder if it has more to do with looking like Tom instead.

As we wait to see and hear more details about the face change — is this upgrade a positive change, or will fans miss the face they were used to in the original game? Drop a comment and let me know!
